New York kid-rock band Princess Katie and Racers Steve’s new song for Halloween! PKRS contacted me a few months ago to arrange a Halloween song they had composed. I mocked up an arrangement using samples so they could hear it. We tweaked it a bit adding appropriate Danse Macabre inspired elements. The score was produced in Sibelius and we exported PDFs and sent them to the conductor. We recorded the arrangement with the FAMES Project Orchestra in Macedonia. The ensemble used 53 players with reduced brass, woodwind, percussion, and string sections. I monitored the recording section from my own studio using Source Live technology. This allowed me to listen to the session at high quality with talkback directly to the conductor. I did a few of the mallet and piano overdubs within my studio. Paul Antonelle recorded additional percussion played by Daniel Gould at Clubhouse Studios in Rhinebeck . Janna Baty recorded the choral parts in the comfort of her home studio by her husband master musician Doug Wamble. All in all – the arrangement came together through the internet. Racer Steve mixed the track in his NYC studio, Rocket. The visuals were done by NY based New Speak .
